I saw Tommie today and he is doing fine; Harry takes very good care of him. Unfortunately he has to stay with Harry for a longer period. I am so sorry that he can't see his babies grow up, but maybe there will be a second hatch in the near future?
Jerry is still a bit stressed and I think she's in a breeding condition again. The babies are doing great! I take the babies out of the nestbox several times daily for some socializing time. This daily handling has made them very tame and I can just play with them, chuck them, let them take a walk on the floor etc. I also put them on the budgie cage, all in a row!! Taking them out of the nestbox is no problem, only if the mother doesn't bother. Jerry is used to this; I also took the eggs out every day, just to get her used to this.

Several times a day I see a cute little lovebird face coming out of the nestbox, but none of them left the nestbox yet. When I sit on my coach to drink a cup of coffee I can see those adventures clearly; it is really amazing. A few weeks ago they came out of the eggs and now they will come out of the nestbox. Here you'll find some more pictures of the birds!

Here I am again, after being so busy. The birds has grown so much, you know. It's unbelievable.
The most comical thing about this whole "Lovebird Story" is, that my "bird friends" Harry and Marinus gave me a female bird at January 16th, just a friend for Tommie, and I asked for a male one. First I didn't knew, but when I found out that Jerry was female and that they told me they had ordered rings for me at our bird society I had already sold my birds!! He he he, they were still growing in the eggs and they were already sold!! Every year our bird society organizes an exhibition in November and I love to join this (for the first time in my live!) so I am planning to breed with Jerry with another man (also a green agapornis roseicollis) very soon. Tommie is still healing of his wound, so this other bird is the only way......sorry Tommie!! It's just temporary.
I will keep you informed and here you'll find some beautiful and recent pics of the lovebird babies. Click on the pictures to enlarge!
They eldest three went to their new owners at Monday, 18thMay. I must say; I really miss them....

Tommie is back!! He has totally recovered, I'm so glad. But he has his own cage now, because Jerry is breeding with another (green) male. First I thought he recognized Jerry but now I think he is used to the situation. And of course.....I'm "his girlfriend" too!!! Maybe I will find another female bird for Tommie to breed Dutch Blue faced lovebirds? I will think about that.
My lovely bird Tommie died at August, 18, 1998!! But you 'll find
a Memorial Page for him at this page (click here!).
