Introduction
 The Netherlands

Hi there! My name is Ellen (born at November 27, 1962) and I live in the Netherlands, near the seaport town of Rotterdam. I work as a clerk at a county court (I'm dealing with family cases like alimony etc.) and my hobby’s are music (modern and classic), my computer and (of course) parrots. My motivation to make this homepage is to share my love for parrots with all other parrot lovers throughout the world. I own this site for almost 2 years now and I get a lot of response and questions from people who also have birds, well...that's so nice you know!! Talking to other people, all over the world, about the same "addiction", LOL!! It is an addiction, I am very sure of that now. I have birds since I was about 16 years old (it started with a budgie). I once bred with lovebirds (see the Lovebird story page) and now I also have a bigger parrot.

I have a budgie, four lovebirds and a Senegal parrot. The male budgie, Rakker is since November 1999 5 1/2 years old. Since Tuesday June the 9th 1998 I have a lovebird, named Pucky. He was at that moment about nine weeks old. Now (April 2000) he is almost two years now....and since Wednesday July 28, 1999 I have Mickey, the Senegal parrot (born in May 1999). She is now about 11 months old (April 2000). I got her through a well known Belgium breeder. You can find more information about Senegal parrots on the Senegal Mailing List web page: http://lists.wingscc.com/index.htm! Since February 25 of the year 2000 I got another lovebird, a blue masked one. Her name is Sweetie and she is very cute. She lives in the same cage as Pucky; they aren't very close friends yet. But on the other hand they play with each other and they don't fight etc.In the meantime they started breeding, yeah!! See the page "the Story of Pucky and Sweetie", a real must. Digital photo's from egg till young bird!

Since Thursday July 27th 2000 I have two more lovebirds, there names are Charlie and Piwi. I adopted them from owners, who had to give the birds away because there son is allergic. These birds are the parents of Pucky, that made it more special for me to take them in my house! Soon you 'll find more information and photo's about these birds on this website ( Ellen/ July 29, 2000).  Here a picture of all my lovebirds together, taken at July the 29th!

Every day they come out of their cages, after I come home from work and they play with each other, hanging in some lamps and on the paintings and so on! It's also very cozy to have them on my shoulder or head and pulling my hair; but in spite of this, those tiny winged creatures have stolen my heart. Sweetie loves to "ruin" the blinds for example!!
The budgie Rakker can speak many words and phrases and mimics other sounds; Rakker is very tame. Pucky is very tame indeed, but he doesn't speak a word. Mickey is becoming tame also. He steps up and down and I can hold him to preen his head and neck feathers. But he still sometimes bite me. Never mind, the most interesting thing of these birds is their curiosity for me and for their toys. Senegal parrots can be moody birds, but well...we are moody too sometimes, aren't we? She is very emotional and sweet and that's what I love about her. Charlie and Piwi always start with the morning paper and after that they 'll love to take a refreshing bath in my kitchen!! After Pucky and Sweetie started breeding, Charlie and Piwi did too. Take a look at their diary at the breeding page of Charlie and Piwi.

Tommie, my favorite lovebird died!!My dear Tommie....:

I just want to let you all know that my most favorite lovebird Tommie died today (August 18, 1998). It was almost certain that he had a tumor under his wing and last Sunday blood was all over his feathers and he also didn't breathe too good. So I went to the vet (again) and she advised me to give him an injection. It was so hard to choose for this option, because Tommie is a very adorable, sweet and tame lovebird. He always reacts on my voice, but knowing he could be in pain, made me choose for his dead. He died in my hand after a few minutes....I am very sad. To remember him a picture; made a few days ago, together with Pucky...Tommie was a wonderful birdie. (Tuesday, August 18, 1998).
