The
story of Pucky and Sweetie! (6)

Funny! Some days ago Charlie and Piwi started mating too! Gosh...maybe they are going to breed now, hi hi....! I gave them a nest box too, of course. Only that will be the last time that I let them breed, because Charlie is already about 6/7 years old and Piwi about 4/5 years old. So there comes a moment that you don't breed anymore with birds with this age.
Here you see them being busy making a nest:When they are having a nest, I certainly will update you about that!! But I don't think I can make such a diary for them like the one of Puck and Sweet. Charlie isn't very tame so I don't think she let me in the nest box! But we'll see, said the blind. LOL!
With the babies of Pucky and Sweetie, Sammy and Tommie, things are perfect. Cannot tell you otherwise. Sweetie is the most caring lovebird mother I ever saw!! So sweet (!) etc. but also tame enough that I can take a look in the nest box whenever I want too. Or take the babies out. Some people told me that I couldn't do that, that this is very dangerous and that the mother will kill the babies, then. But Sweetie doesn't! I really think that with tame birds it's different. They know me and the trust me....that's the difference I guess. But if you once have a nest with your lovebirds, just be careful. This all doesn't mean that you can take the babies out too! Those people are right...it can be dangerous and it's possible that they ignore their babies or kill them.....

My two tame lovebirds constantly surprice me! Yesterday, when I wanted to take a look in the nest box (also to take some pics), Sweetie started feeding the babies...Pucky went in too and I could see everything they did..it was the cutest thing I ever saw! Here again some wonderful pictures I want to share with you. Hi there! It's almost impossible, but the babies have grown again...just a little bit, but you can see it clearly. Everyday I take them out of their nest box just to socialize with them a few minutes. Sweetie and Pucky doesn't matter at all, so I am a very lucky girl.
By the way...Charlie, the other female lovebird, has layed her first egg today! Maybe I will make a diary for them too...Keep you updated on my website. Here the latest photo's:

I think you can see that the eldest baby, Sammy, is getting a kind of apple green color. Funny!! I am so curious what colors both birds will get...that's just a big surprise, I guess for everyone. De babies love to ly in my and Conny's (my friend who's getting the eldest baby) hand...I hope the babies will be very hand-tame when they grow up.Here some new digital photo's:

Oh gosh...I was looking in the cage because I heard some sounds in the nest box. Guess what?? Sweetie is cleaning up her nest!! Ha ha ha ha...what a funny and cute bird she is. I really can see the poops (they are very light gray) of the babies on the bottom of the cage, isn't this hilarious? Maybe "personata's" are more clean than "roseicollis", because with the nest of Tommie and Jerry they didn't do that at all.Tuesday, January 11, 2001:
Hi, here I am again...nothing new to tell. Tonight I held the birds in my hand again, they love it. So cute!! When they find a comfortable place, they fall asleep, LOL!! Sweetie is cleaning up her nest box. Poops are flying around, LOL....
I never saw this before, a lovebird mom who's cleaning up her nest. Tonight, for the first time, she was out of the cage for some minutes with Pucky and she flew through the room again...!
Ohh...guess what? I fell in love with the babies...I have them in my hands every day and I got very attached to them, but when they are fully grown up they are going to another mom/dad......they are going to people I know, so from time to time I can see my babies, lucky me!! For sure I will miss them badly :o(The newest pics (of tonight):
To be continued....!!
