The story of Pucky and Sweetie! (3)

December 3, 2000
Immediately after taking away the eggs of the first nest, which didn't hatch, Pucky and Sweetie started mating again. This resulted in four eggs now!!

This time there are some differences. First of all I don't take out the eggs anymore. I still think about what happened the last time. I know the dates and if everything goes well before Christmas the first egg will hatch. We'll see. Pucky is now allowed to go into the nest box too, when Sweetie is in. Strangely enough the last time she didn't let him in. Pucky feeds her in there and also preens her feathers! The first egg is laid on November the 26th, the second one on November 28th, the third egg on November the 30th and the fourth one yesterday, December the 2nd.

Here some photo's I took today (December 3, 2000):

I cannot believe it, but till now Sweetie has laid six eggs!! Two more than the last time. December 5 the fifth egg

and yesterday (December 8) the sixth one. Everything goes better this time. I don't touch the eggs and I also put a bath at the cage so that she can take a bath whenever she wants. I can't check that when I am at work, so when I come home from work I take her out, put her on the cage and give her a bath myself, LOL! This is what she looks like then:

She doesn't matter and although she has this nest, I can do a lot with her. Pucky is the same tame and sweet little birdie as he always was, his character doesn't change at all. Lucky me! Here some new pics I took this morning. Of course starting with a picture of the 6 eggs!

Till now everything goes fine. I take care of Sweetie for example by giving her an extra bath during the day. That's very important for the eggs. They are so in love...I never thought about the fact that they could fall in love. In the beginning they lived in one cage and that's it. But slowly they got used to each other. They started playing with one another etc. But mating?? It's reality now and I deeply hope that the eggs will hatch this time. Keep hoping for me, will you all?? Thanx!
