The
story of Pucky and Sweetie! (2)

October 20, 2000.
Four eggs now! Everything goes well. I'd better say very good! Sweetie is so sweet, serious and caring. Pucky isn't changing at all...with his attitude towards me, only you can see that he is very caring towards Sweetie. When I take the eggs out of the nest, just to check on them, then he is calling me...I guess to say..."Mom, be careful okay? These are my first babies....!!".Some new pics (the picture of the four eggs isn't sharp at all, but it's just to let you see them):

Sweetie has laid four eggs, no more. And they are all fertilized. Wow!! Everything is going perfect, I cannot say otherwise. Sweetie is breeding all day long and once in a while she comes out of the nest to drink, poop and eat, LOL! The poops are very very big, but that's because she has to hold up longer then usual. Here some photo's I took today. The quality of the pics aren't that good, but well..they are cute:

Things are going well. It's very funny to see that Sweetie comes out once in a while and thinks...now I have to play very fast, as if she thinks she has a lot to catch up!! So she drinks a bit, eats a bit, poop a LOT! (LOL), and play a bit...and goes right into the nest box again. All this takes about a few minutes, it's very funny to see!! When she is in the nest box she doesn't let Pucky in. But when I take out the front, to look into the nest box, sometimes Pucky goes in too. See the next pictures I took this morning. In November I have a vacation, so then for about 10 days I cannot update this website, but right after that I will tell you all about what happened!

Nothing new. Sweetie is breeding and everything goes okay. Pucky is very concerned about her and checks on her very often!

Something terrible happened this afternoon and I never had this before. Gosh...I feel so awful. I was inspecting the eggs, to see if one of them will hatch soon. Well...you know...you can see that if the baby is picking on the egg shell, trying to come out of it. I was just thinking by myself...I have to be careful, because if the egg will fall....and then it happened..it was just a few seconds, but one of the eggs fell on the ground. It crashed and some blood came out. I had to cry so hard..really.
I feel so terrible...hate myself, I feel so guilty. But what can I do? The baby died...there was a cute little birdie inside....Sorry Pucky and Sweetie...but I didn't do this on purpose.... I know they won't notice it, but I do!
Okay...I have three more eggs which are fertile. One of these days the first egg will hatch. So I will keep you informed on this page. If someone ever had the same experience, please write me at ellen_parrots@hotmail.com. Thanx.Saturday November 11, 2000:
Nothing new to tell...still no egg did hatch. I think it's a little late, but that doesn't mean that no egg will hatch. Maybe tomorrow?? Keep you posted on this...!!Sunday November 12, 2000:
Something happened today. I looked into the nest box and saw an egg-shell in there, so I thought....wow! One egg has hatched...but what happened was that Sweetie had opened the egg herself....the baby in there was already dead. There still are two eggs in the nest box, but I am doubting now if those will hatch eventually. But they'll get another change to breed. Maybe the second time everything will be better?Thursday November 16, 2000:
I removed the other two eggs. They were as cold as ice! I am so sorry for Sweetie, breeding all the time and no babies, but maybe the second round will go better. After removing the eggs, they immediately started mating again. So funny! So who knows?? Maybe they finally will get babies? Keep you posted on this!By the way...Charlie and Piwi got a nest box too. If something happens, I will let you know......
