Mickey, the senegal parrot

First of all...I found out that Mickey is a girl!! There are some pages where you still read that she is a "he", but that I still have to change. Since February 2, 2000 I know that Mickey is female after doing a DNA test in England at Avian Biotech International (Cornwall), see this certificate:
The big day was Wednesday July 28, 1999!! She came home!! I was very excited about that. I had to take her out of her little cage to put her in his big one and she bit me very hard! Do you see the drop of blood on my finger?? LOL!
The next day she didn't find his food can yet, so I gave her some millet; she immediately ate from it. After 1½ day she found her food, I am so happy about that. She also saw her water dish and drank a lot!! She must have been very thirsty!  There are some troubles with her...she constantly puts hers head through the cage bars and it worked also! Shucks! I have to keep a good eye on her. Hope she will stop with this soon. But anyway....she found her fresh dish too. Now she is eating some cucumber!! She got her first bath at August 1, 1999. I took her to my bathroom and sprayed her with some nice light warm water. I don't think she liked it yet, but soon she will...I am very sure of that!!
Yes yes! She comes and sits on my finger! She already did this in her cage, but now she is out, she does it too (August 2, 1999).
For the first time out with my other birds, Rakker (budgie) and Pucky (lovebird). It went well....but Pucky and Mickey don't like each other yet. Rakker went to Mickey as well, he isn't afraid of her. I think he sees every bird as a play friend!! (see thumbnail pictures).  She still does her head through the cage bars...I really hate that. So I decided to buy a new cage for her. It certainly was very expensive, but it was necessary. She could have killed herself and if that had happened I would never forgive myself!!

Mickey is adjusting more and more. She still is a bit nippy from time to time, but she begins to like me a lot and I like her a lot!! She flies to me when I hold up my finger, if I am eating she wants something too!
When is she playing she still is very clumsy, she once got stuck under Rakker's ladder, LOL! (see also the thumbnail pictures).
She also loves to sit on my shoulder. I'd better say that she only wants to sit on my shoulder. Sometimes I find it difficult to let her sit there, because a lot of people say this can be dangerous. But I am very alert and I always close my eyes, when I see her beak in the neighborhood of my eyes! Well....I can put her away, but she constantly climbs to my shoulder again, so let her be.....To see update pictures of her, just go to my "
