This page is totally devoted to my peach faced lovebird Tommie; he died on August, 18, 1998 because of a tumor under his wing. I had Tommie for three years and he became a very tame and lovable bird to me. I really adored him; he was my friend in good and in bad times!!
I could play with him, talk to him and also give him kisses on his beak, feathers and toes. In February, 1998 he got a wound under his wing and I don't know why....maybe he'd hurt himself in the cage or something like that. He also had a collar round his neck for two times, but even this didn't help him to get better.
Sunday, August 16, 1998 it became worse and there was blood everywhere. So, Tuesday 18th I went to the vet (again) and she advised me to give him an injection. It was a very hard decision, but it was the best for him, because he could be in pain so the vet give him this injections and she laid him in my hand and after about two or three minutes Tommie died...softly in my hand. I felt really terrible and I also felt a bit guilty first, but after thinking about him, I knew it was the only ánd the best thing I could do for him. He is always in my mind...... !!
