Update December 17, 2003
The baby was being plucked so badly that I took it away from the parents last night.. It just was a little drama.. I tried all kind of things.. took the nestbox out and put a open basket in the cage..took Piwi (dad) away (he was plucking a lot, but Charlie also did that..) away.. but nothing worked. I also bought Byt-X (specially for people who bite nails etc).. that is also to be used on the babies.. Didn't help! Good gracious!!
So.. Now I am hand feeding the baby, using this formula:
Normally I use the formula of Kaytee, but I couldn't get it here in my home town! This can also be used for babies. Anyway... the baby is doing great! I had a little cage and cleaned it thoroughly and put some tissues on the bottom.. a little basket in it with a washing glove in it, in which he sleeps.. that's very cosy! I work 8 ours per day from monday till tuesday.. but I give him his formula before I go to work. After work I go straight home (in a hurry!!) and give him formula. Then in the evening around 9 PM.. and just before going to bed.. about 0:00 or 0:30 AM.
He is sooooo cute. Tonight I put him on my computer table (on my scanner. LOL) and also took him out for a while to play. He started eating some millet on his own! Quite a clever "guy", huh?

My sweetie pie is doing great! He eats his formula as if he never ate something like that before.. he he. He already starts to climb in his little (baby) cage and is doing some fight lessons in it. Oh my..! I think he will start trying to fly through the room one of the coming days. Coming week he will be 5 weeks old..Time flies! Here some new photo's of 'm:
The baby died... I am so sad. I wanted to update this page but just couldn't.. It was so suddenly and I don't know exactly what was the cause. He died on Monday December 22 but on Sunday he already wasn't feeling well. His poop was almost black (maybe blood in his poop??) and he was acting strange... he was constantly calling me as if he was in pain. But on the other hand he still was very active. When I wanted to give him his formula, just before I was going to bed, I saw him laying on the bottom of the cage.. he looked bad, very bad. I had to cry.. it was awful to see. I sat up with him till about 2 AM when he suddenly looked better.. so I give him his formula and I tried to get some sleep. The next morning (I had to go to work) he was still alive.. but he looked worse. I just couldn't go off to work and asked the day off.. I was so happy that they understood.... Anyway... I was thinking of going to the vet, but he died about 10 AM. I was devastated!
Thinking back now I remember that the baby wasn't fed okay when he was 1 / 2 days old... maybe the parents already knew then that something was wrong with him.. we will never know. I do know that I miss him....
